New Junction hosts Chines New Year Festival
Last Saturday’s Chinese New Year festival and community market was held at Weeip Park in Midland.
The event had over 1,300 people from multiple cultures.
City of Swan Mayor Tanya Richardson said “One of the privileges of being Mayor of the City of Swan is the opportunity to experience all of the wonderful connections our community enjoys.” “It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both our Chinese community and the broader Swan community”. “Events like today are incredibly important to ensue our communities are represented and acknowledged”.
“Today’s celebration also highlights the role of young people in strengthening community resilience and cultural continuity.”
Over one third of people in the Midland area are born overseas.
