Forge magazine, which focusses on Australian innovation, entrepreneurship, and wealth creation, have again focussed on Midland.

Forge identified $650m expenditure on expanding both the St John of God Midland private hospital and the St John of God public hospital, which will attract many new health care businesses and thousands of additional jobs over time.

Hazelmere, located next to Perth airport, is expected to grow as a freight hub to support aviation related firms, supporting the $5 billion Perth Airport Draft Masterplan 2026 to transform the airport into a property, hospitality and commerce hub.

The City of Swan is Perth’s largest local government, comprising about 20% of the capital city. Swan is also ranked in the top 10 fastest growing local governments in 2023-24 with 4.37% annual population growth.

Lifestyle is important to many of Swans residents, the City of Swan is home to the Swan Valley, WA’s oldest wine region, and Guilford, a picturesque and historic town. Stephen Cain, the City’s CEO, says “more people are moving here every week for employment opportunities, relatively affordable housing and a vibrant community with lots to do. It’s a great place to raise a family”.

More than half a billion dollars was invested in and around Swan in 2024, the City’s gross regional product rose by 4.7% in 2024 after three years of even stronger growth.
